Grade 2 - Roll & Read
Roll and Read for Grade 2!
It helps the students develop reading fluency by practicing the words on the National Reading Vocabulary List (search www.readingkey.com)
Hopefully ALL of the schools will move toward using this list! The National Reading Vocabulary is a list of 800 plus words that a second grader needs to be able to read successfully. The research shows that students who can fluently read the words on this list will be reading at least a 3.0 reading level and typically score in the top 10% on most standardized reading assessments.
Of the 958 words used in the Grade 2 list, 102 words in the first nine weeks are review words from the Grade 1 List. This is done because the first several weeks of Grade 2 should be spent reviewing the more difficult Grade1 words and primary vowel sounds.
There is a roll and read for all 36 weeks of the year. This product uses two number cubes. There are 12 choices for each of the week's words.
All you need to do is put the week in a sheet protector (or laminate) and put in the center drawer for choice time.
